Windows Surface Tablet

Sloped edges, vapor resistant magnesium alloy chassis, high resolution HD touch screen these are the highlights of the new tablet from the Windows family that runs on the Windows RT operating system. According to Microsoft the tablet is not expected to hit the markets before the much anticipated release of the new OS Windows 8. The RT OS is a low profile variant of Windows 8, which Microsoft says is a brand new OS with a revamped design interface and performance. The tablet named as “Surface” will come up with an i 5 processor upgrade version for Windows 8 Pro OS in days after its release.

With the release of Surface, Microsoft, the software giant that monopolized the software industry for more than a decade is now entering the hardware industry. This is in the backdrop of its competitor Apple, becoming an undisputed entity in the tablet industry. Microsoft launches Surface in the price tag similar to i pad so as to stay alive in the competition. The upgrade version, which will be later released is expected to cost same as ultra book.

The sloppy design and feather weight of Surface gives a confident grip to its users. A soft coating molded with magnesium alloy chassis resists vapor deposit. Surface is bundled with an ultra thin keyboard and a kickstand that supports the 9.3mm thick tablet while typing. The kickstand is attached to the tablet, with a cutout facilitating flipping. With the keyboard and the kickstand in place,  Surface out do a netbook in its look. Microsoft tries to embed all  available hardware features into Surface. The magnetic keyboard port is situated at the bottom edge, power button on top along with two speakers on both sides. The company provides one slot for USB 2.0 which is along side with a micro HDMI port and a magnetic power connector.

The new Windows RT is a much feared competitor for the Android and Apple. RT comes with a metro style homescreen keeping all apps just one touch away. The redesigned Windows logo below the touch screen is not just a trademark but a button that opens up the start screen. The whole bezel is touch sensitive letting you to navigate through the apps by swiping your fingers across it.

The new release from Microsoft is expected to make ripples in the tablet manufacturing industry. When the famous software company rolls out its first hardware device, the speculations and expectations are more. In the wake of the new tablet release, the incumbents are believed to bring in more surprises to circumvent a possible market take over. The tablet powered with Intel i 5 processor will be the first of its kind that can exhibit high performance when compared to the tablets released till date. The new metro style interface opens up new possibilities for the users to access apps, social media update, weather updates and maps just a finger swipe away. The new interface comes in the backdrop of Android devices becoming widely accepted.
